01Overview

A Marathon, Not a Sprint

These filters run 24/7 for years, so reliability is everything.

What it removes
  • Gasoline Leaks
  • Toxic Vapors
  • PFAS (Forever Chemicals)
  • Industrial Solvents

Cleaning up a chemical spill is incredibly slow. As the years go by, the amount of pollution coming out of the ground slowly drops. The carbon filters must be designed to handle these slow changes. We also use a smart "two-tank" system to ensure that even while we swap out the old carbon, the filtering never has to stop.

9001,050

mg/g Iodine

Proves the carbon can catch the tiny chemical molecules commonly found in toxic spills.

02How it works

From analysis to changeout

The carbon is one stage in a train, not the whole of it.

01

Testing the Ground

We test the dirt and water to find out exactly what was spilled, how much there is, and how many years it will take to pump it all out.

02

Pre-Filtering

We install basic sand or mesh filters first. This catches normal dirt, rust, and mud so they don't instantly clog the expensive carbon.

03

The Two-Tank System

The toxic water or air flows through two carbon tanks in a row. The first takes the hit, the second acts as an absolute guarantee of safety.

04

Safe Swapping

When the first tank is full of toxins, we safely remove it. The second tank becomes the new first tank, and a brand new tank goes in the back.

03Recommended grades

The carbon this duty asks for

The grades that fit soil remediation — and what each is good at.

GAC

Liquid Phase Granular Carbon

Coal based · Coconut shell

Used when pumping contaminated water out of the ground. The water flows through large tanks of this carbon before being safely returned to nature.

  • Groundwater pumping
  • Toxic water cleaning
  • Lake/River safety
VAP

Vapor Phase Granular Carbon

Granular · Pelletised

Used when vacuuming toxic air out of the soil. It traps the chemical fumes before the air is blown out into the sky.

  • Soil vapor vacuums
  • Air cleaning
  • Toxic vent filters
04Key properties

The figures that decide fit

What each property actually governs once the bed is running.

Iodine Number

mg/g
900 – 1050 typical

A strong score ensuring the carbon can catch the small, slippery chemicals common in industrial spills.

Particle Size

mesh
Standard typical

Needs to be sized perfectly so the pumps don't have to work too hard to push the water through over the years.

Hardness

%
High typical

Must survive months of constant water flow and occasional backwashing without breaking down into dust.

05Common questions

Frequently asked questions

We pump the toxic water or air out of the ground and push it through giant tanks of carbon. The carbon traps the toxins, and clean water or air comes out the other side.

Safety and money. If you have one tank and it gets full, you start pumping toxic water into nature. With two, the second tank acts as a 100% safety net while letting you completely use up the first tank.

It is almost always normal dirt, rust, or bacteria from the ground blocking the carbon, not the toxic chemicals! You must put a basic dirt filter in front of the carbon tank.
